Insights from Your Wedding Photographer:

5 things your photographer wants you to know.

As a wedding photographer, I've had the privilege of capturing countless love stories and witnessing the magic of weddings unfold. Over the years, I've learned a few things that I believe every couple should know to get the most out of the photos from your special day. So, if you're gearing up for wedding day, here are five insights straight from me and my lens to you x

1 - Choose Your Getting Ready Location Wisely:

One of the most overlooked aspects of wedding preparation is the getting ready space. Trust me when I say that a clean, naturally lit, and uncluttered environment can work wonders for your pre-wedding photos! Whether it's a cozy hotel room or a serene bridal suite, make sure the space reflects the tranquility and excitement of the day. Honestly, it lakes such a huge difference and it shines through in every photograph.

2 - Embrace the Imperfections: Your wedding dress simply will NOT stay pristinely clean and spot-free all day. The sooner you come to terms with just enjoying yourself and not worrying about your dress, the better! You relax, your smiles are natural, you are focused on your partner and your guests and best of all you are present! All of these things amount to the most authentic, lovely moments for your Photographer to capture. So, it's okay if your dress gets a little dirty along the way. Some of the most breathtaking photos capture the authenticity of those moments. So, instead of worrying about every speck of dirt, just embrace the journey and focus on creating timeless memories. you can wash your dress but you can’t redo your wedding photos!

3 - Opt for a Device-Free Ceremony: While technology has its perks, there's something truly magical about being fully present in the moment. Consider asking your guests to put away their phones, iPads, and other devices during the ceremony. Not only does this create a more intimate atmosphere, but it also ensures that your photographer can capture genuine emotions without distractions. ( For example, Uncle Pete isn’t leaning into the aisle with his huge iPad in the way of your Photographer trying to capturing your first kiss…) Trust me, your photographer is more than capable of capturing everything. And the sight of your loved ones fully engaged in the ceremony will always be priceless.

4 - Savor Your First Dance: Your first dance as a married couple is a moment you'll cherish forever. Amidst the whirlwind of the reception, make sure to take a few precious minutes to savor this special time together. Allow yourselves to get lost in the music, the embrace, and the joy of being newlyweds. And here's a pro tip: if you want to capture some truly magical photos, carve out some alone time on the dance floor before the party kicks into full swing, even if it’s only a minute! It is all your photographer needs and I can guarantee you'll treasure the photos of that moment for years to come.

5 ENJOY & RELAX – Your Photos Depend on It: Weddings are stressful, and some brides have planned for their big day their whole lives. But when the day arrives, don’t sweat the details. Things will go wrong – they always do. Your task now is not to stress over little things, but to enjoy the day as it unfolds. Be happy. Smile. Relax. Slow things down and enjoy all the bog and little moments. Take time to look around and appreciate where you are. But mostly, enjoy the company of your new husband/wife. This is the first day of the rest of your life.

To put all of this simply: Happiness = natural smiles + radiance which gives you beautiful, authentic and relaxed wedding photos.
